Jin Wook ChoiJin Wook Choi received his Ph.D. in economics from the Iowa State University. He is currently associate professor of economics in the Driehaus College of Business, DePaul University, Chicago, where he has been teaching for over 27 years. As a resident of Glenview, Illinois, he has served the Korean-American community in the Chicago area for the last 34 years in various capacities.

Among his notable accomplishments, he served 12 years as a member of the board of directors of Foster Bank, Chicago, IL, and helped many Korean, Asian, and American businessmen and women to promote and develop their businesses successfully.

As the president of the Illinois Economic Association, the Korean-American Financial Professionals Association, and the Illinois Coalition for the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement, he helped better understanding and better communication between business community and academic community by hosting conferences, seminars and petition drives. He played a very instrumental role in ratifying the Free Trade Agreement between the U.S. and Korea in 2012.

As an economic affairs columnist for local media, he has contributed during the last 22 years more than 70 articles and provided numerous TV and radio interviews to inform and educate the public on important economic and financial issues.

While serving as a member of the board of directors of the Center for Seniors in Chicago, he understood the need of many senior citizens in the Chicago area and helped them enjoy better life by providing better services.

He also helped distribute winter jackets to the needy in the Chicago area as a member of the Korean-American Friendship Network for the last 3 years.

Dr. Choi has been active in politics, too. As a member of the Asian-American Advisory Boards for Senator Mark Kirk and for the 10th district Congressman Robert Dold, he has been voicing Korean- and Asian-American issues and needs to the main-stream politicians.

As a member of the National Unification Advisory Council for almost 20 years, his interest in peaceful unification of South Korea and North Korea is still ongoing.

He has also served as an executive board member in various business and academic organizations which include the Athenian Policy Forum, Korea Futures Exchange (KOFEX), Office of Supply of the Republic of Korea, Korea Banking Institute, and Hansa Institute.

Dr. Choi has written 4 books, edited 2 books and published numerous journal articles in the areas of money and banking, and economics. He is happily married with 2 grown-up children.
