Mr. Chanh Duong is a dedicated husband to Christine Duong a registered nurse, and proud father of 2 college-age children, Carolyn and Calvin. Mr. Duong credits his father, a retired pastor from South Vietnam, for his strong faith and commitment to his church.
In 1978 Chanh fled from Vietnam as a refugee and spent 6 years in a refugee camp in Thailand. In 1984 he arrived in the U.S. He studied electrical engineering at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, then moved to Chicago in 1988. Chanh worked in the construction industry for nearly 20 years.
Mr. Duong is a leader and teacher in the Vietnamese Baptist Church of Chicago. Mr. Duong is a founding member and Trustee. For nearly two decades, he has served as Chair of Deacons and a mediator on interpersonal conflicts for the 100-plus member congregation.
Chanh has faithfully represented the Church as a delegate to the Annual Vietnamese National Baptist Fellowship Conferences.
